Interview with Alisha Alder, Branching Out Occupational Therapy

Alisha Alder is the Principal Occupational Therapist at Branching Out Occupational Therapy.

Alisha graduated from LaTrobe University in 2002. She has worked across a variety of Acute, Community Aged Care Services in her early years but always had a passion for Paediatrics. She has been working with children over the past 16 years. She is a wife and mother to 3 beautiful children whom keep her very busy.

She shares her love not only with her own family but of those she works with, ensuring the best practice in regards to assessment and therapy. She looks forward to working closely with parents and their kids, helping them BRANCH OUT and reach their full potential.

Tell us about your role and your clinic? And why do you do this work?

I am a sole provider working within a small clinic in Langwarrin, Victoria. I am a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a strong interest in emotional regulation.

I have a strong interest in parent / carer education and am passionate about empowering families and children to branch out and reach their full potential.

What's a key feature you love on Theratrak?

The ability to share videos securely / privately with families.

How have you implemented Theratrak into your clinic?

During the recent pandemic, I began to look for ways that I could continue to support my family with therapy via the use of technology.

Theratrak allowed for me to share videos, PDF's, activity ideas and to track the compliance of families.

A big plus for me, has been using it as a way to share educational videos around sensory and emotional regulation and for families to have continued access to these resources.

Families have mentioned they love being able to go back and 'listen/refresh' whenever they need.

What's been the impact of Theratrak in your clinic?

Theratrak recently integrated with Cliniko (a practice management software I use), and the home programs are automatically transferred across for each client once generated, saving me time on my note-taking, which is a massive WIN, in my opinion.

What advice would you give to a therapist considering using Theratrak at their clinic?

Go for it! Experiment with the app, from the use of activities already on the program to quickly being able to add your activities and, most importantly, track your recommendations being implemented at home to support overall progress and goal achievement.
