On the 3rd of February 2022, a group of passionate health professionals joined forces to share insights around health technology trends in Australia.
Theratrak founder Laura Simmons was invited to speak on a panel focused on digital health and disability inclusion.
The theme of the discussion was:
Healthcare and technology can do better when it comes to including people with a disability. How can we improve access to routine healthcare and rehabilitation available to someone with a disability, and what role does digital health play in this?
Laura spoke alongside Gillian Mason from AIDH, Dr Rachael Cvejic - a lecturer in intellectual disability mental health, and John Perkins from Checked In Care.
Here are some key outtakes from Laura at the Talking HealthTech Summer Summit in 2022:
“Co-designing with end users, participants with a disability, and people who work with people with disabilities is so important. It’s something that we’ve engrained in all of our development since the start of Theratrak.“
“Everyone’s journey with a disability is different - even if it’s the same disability, it’s going to be a different journey for every single person and I think that’s a really important thing to think about when we’re designing technology.”
“It’s something people have to be aware of when they’re designing technology, there’s no one straight solution for every single person. “
